Traditional tissue pathology procedures and protocols have generally changed little in the last 100 years, and this has been one factor contributing to the reluctance of many pathologists to embrace the new digital pathology platforms. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the value of digital pathology and ‘pathology at a distance’ is becoming increasingly recognized.
